OUR WHY
On any given day, over 48,000 youth in the United States are confined in facilities away from home and family because of juvenile justice or criminal justice involvement.
Thousands are held without having a trial.
Thousands of youths pass through the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice each year. 65% of children will likely end up back in the system. Of that number, 80.2 % are males.
Suicide rates among teens have reached their highest point in nearly two decades. The surge is particularly strong among teen boys, up 14% between 2015 - 2017.
In Metro Atlanta the Juvenile crime rate is 15% higher than the National Average.
